Raw Chilled Green Vegetable Soup with Sesame Seeds/No Cook Soup/Oil Free Soup


Cucumber, peeled and roughly chopped - 3 nos
Avocado, peeled , pitted and sliced - 3 nos
Spring onions, chopped - 3 bulbs and all the green leaves
Grated fresh ginger - 4 tsp
Coriander, chopped - 1/2 cup
Lemon juice - 1/4 cup
Water - 1 liter or as needed
Yogurt - 100 ml
Sesame seeds, slightly toasted - 1 tbsp


Combine cucumber, avocado, spring onions, ginger, coriander leaves and lemon juice in a bowl.
Using a blender, blend them in batches. Add enough water to get desired consistency to form a chunky soup.

Season to taste with sugar, salt and pepper. Place this in the refrigerator to chill for 2 hours. Serve with a dollop of yogurt and toasted sesame seeds.

White Lime Pickle / Vella Naranga Achar

A very tasty and healthy oil free recipe. Try at home and enjoy.


Lime    - 12 nos

Carrot cut in to thin  length wise - 1 cup

Garlic      - 1/4 cup

Green chilli split   - 12 nos

Ginger cutinto length wise  - 1 dst sp

Water    - 1 cup

Vinegar   - 1 dst sp

Salt as needed

Sugar     - 1 tsp

Steam the limes 5 minites in a steamer. Using kitchen towel wipe the lime . Cut each lime in 8 pieces. Marinate the lime with sugar and salt for three days . This will help to reduce the bitterness. Steam the carrots, garlic, green chillies and ginger. Boil 1 cup of water allow it to cool . Add vinegar and salt to this.
Now add the steamed carrots, garlic, green chillies and ginger mix them . Now add marinated limes to this.
Mix and use .

Mixed nutritious kanji/Mixed nutritious porridge


This kanji is very nutritious with the right amount of carbohydrates and protein and makes for a good morning breakfast.


Cracked wheat - 1/2 cup
Raw rice  - 1/4 cup
Moong dal - 1/4cup
Urad dal  - 1/4 cup
Toor dal   - 1/4 cup
Garlic, chopped - 10 no
Shallots, chopped - 5 nos
Ginger, chopped - 1 piece
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Pepper powder  - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds - 1 1/2 tsp
Salt as needed
Coconut paste - 1/2 of a coconut


Wash cracked wheat, raw rice, moong dal, urad dal and toor dal in several changes of water. Place this in a pressure cooker. To this add, garlic, shallots, ginger, coriander powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and salt. Cook till the first whistle comes, then lower the flame, and cook for another 5 minutes. When the pressure is released, open the lid of the pressure cooker and add ground coconut paste. Add water and salt as required. Keep this again in low flame for 5 minutes. Serve this kanji along with pickle or chammanthi.

Oil free Chickpeas curry


Chickpeas - 300 gm
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder - 3 tsp
Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Fenugreek powder - 1 tsp
Onion - 3 nos( Cut lengthwise)
Green chilli - 2
Tomato - 1
Curry leaves - 2 stalks
Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
Grated coconut - 1 cup
Cashewnut - 4 no
Coriander leaves

Soak chickpeas in water for 8 hours. Grind coconut and cashewnuts to make a paste. Pressure cook chcikpeas along with 2-11 ingredients for 1 mins. Now add the ground mixture of coconut and cashewnut paste to this. When the curry starts to boil, add coriander leaves.
